Synthetic Non-Absorbable
Monofilament Polypropylene
1-DESCRIPTION: (Chemical structure, dying)
EGYPROLENE suture is a sterile synthetic non-absorbable surgical suture composed of an isotactic crystalline stereoisomer of polypropylene, a synthetic linear polyolefin. EGYPROLENE is a synthetic monofilament suture.
EGYPROLENE sutures are available dyed (blue) and undyed.
EGYPROLENE meets all requirements established by the United States pharmacopoeia (USP) and the European pharmacopoeia (EP).
2-INDICATION:
EGYPROLENE sutures are indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation, including use in cardiovascular, ophthalmic and neurosurgical procedures.
As a monofilament, polypropylene minimizes a later sinus formation and suture extrusion if the wound becomes infected or contaminated.
3-HOW SUPPLIED:
EGYPROLENE sutures are available sterile, monofilament, dyed (blue) or undyed strands in USP sizes 10/0 to 2 (metric size 0.2 to 5) in a variety of lengths and needles. EGYPROLENE sutures are available in one dozen box.
4-Sterilization:
EGYPROLENE is sterilized by ethylene oxide gas (ETO).
