Synthetic Absorbable
Monofilament Glycolide-Co-Caprolactone
1-DESCRIPTION: (Chemical structure, dying)
EGYMONOCRYL is a sterile synthetic absorbable suture obtained by linear polymerization of 75% Glycolide and 25% Caprolactone (Polyglicapron). EGYMONOCRYL is a synthetic monofilament suture.
EGYMONOCRYL sutures are available both dyed (violet) and undyed. When dyed, only FDA-approved color additives such as D&C violet No. 2 are used. The undyed EGYMONOCRYL is golden yellow in color. EGYMONOCRYL meets all requirements established by the United states pharmacopoeia (USP) and the European pharmacopoeia (EP).
2-Indecation:
EGYMONOCRYL sutures are indicated for use in general soft tissues approximation and/or ligation where an absorbable material is indicated. Its soft and smooth structure provides easy handling and high surgical knot security.
3-ABSORPTION
EGYMONOCRYL absorption occurs by means of hydrolysis where the copolymer degrades to adipic acid which is subsequently absorbed and metabolized in the body.
Breaking strength retention:In-vivo test showed that EGYMONOCRYL retain equals to or more than 55% (dyed) and equals to or more than 45% (undyed) of original tensile strength at 1 week after implantation. Absorption is completed within 90 to 120 days.
4-HOW SUPPLIED:
EGYMONOCRYL Sutures are available sterile strands in USP sizes ranging from 8/0 through 2 (metric size 0.4 through 5) in a variety of lengths with or without needles.
EGYMONOCRYL sutures are available in one dozen box.
5-Sterilization:
EGYMONOCRYL is sterilized by ethylene oxide gas (ETO).
